LOW FAT DAHI CHICKEN RECIPE:
Dahi =Yogurt. Dahi Chicken is a mild chicken dish from the north Indian (Punjabi) cuisine. It is also called curd chicken curry. It is dryish (without a lot of gravy) and has a thick masala coating the chicken. The chicken cooks in its own juices and moisture from yogurt without addition of water. Due to use of full fat yogurt, it is quite creamy without any heavy cream or nut pastes. You can make it for everyday meals as well as include it in your dinner party menus. With dark meat chicken and whole yogurt, this is an excellent keto friendly recipe as well.
INGREDIENTS:
1. Boneless chicken - 500gm
2. Garam masala - 1/4 tsp
3. Salt - 1tsp
4. Cumin powder - 1 tsp
5. Yogurt - 1/2 cups
6. Green chili - few slit green chilis
7. Onion chopped - 2nos
8. Oil - 2 tsp
9. Red chili powder -1/2 tsp
10. Garlic paste -1 tsp
11. Tomato chopped -1nos
12. Coriander for garnish -1 tsp finely chopped
13. Lemon slices - 1 lemon finely slices
14. Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
HOW TO MAKE LOW FAT DAHI CHICKEN:
- Take the yogurt and mix in the cumin powder, garlic paste, turmeric, garam masala and red chili powder. Mix with hands.
- Put the chicken into this and add slit chilies. Then, keep aside for 30 minutes.
- Now heat 2 tsp oil in a pan and add onions. Now, cook till translucent and soft.
- Then, add the tomatoes. Cook for a minute and add all the chicken and marinade.
- Keep cooking till the gravy reaches the consistency you like.
- If you like it drier, cook a little bit more till yogurt curdles around the chicken. Check for salt.
- Garnish with lemon slices, coriander leaves and enjoy.
